All About 3d Printing
What is 3D Printing
What is 3D printing? Let me explain: 3D printing is like having a hot glue gun attached to a moving, robotic arm. The “glue” (or filament) is extruded through a heated nozzle that moves layer-by-layer, like stacking super sticky pancakes on top of each other. The finished product is a hardened PLA, 3D creation.
What is PLA
PLA stands for polylactic acid, which is a bio-plastic that is biodegradable and derived from renewable resources like corn or sugar cane. After hardeners and coloring is added, you get the filaments we use today. Once hardened, 3D prints are non-toxic, though we do not recommend putting them in your mouth or eating off of their surfaces.
Need to Know
What if my print gets dirty? Exposing your print to water for extended periods of time will cause it to deteriorate over time, so avoid giving it a bath or running it through the dishwasher. Instead, wipe it off with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Can my print melt? The temperature would have to get very high for your print to melt, but we do recommend keeping it off of the dashboard of your car, especially on hot, sunny days, as that has been known to cause warping.
We do NOT recommend these products for children under 3 years old as there are small parts that could cause choking.
